Computer facilities

The computer system of the Faculty is mainly based on ~250 PCs and a number of  x86 SMP servers, interconnected by a 1-10 Gb/s LAN.

Our central computer facilities include:

  • Novell SLES/OES2 server
    (Xeon 5650, 2.66 GHz, 12 core, 24 GB RAM, 210 GB HDD + iSCSI RAID6)
  • Debian Linux server
    (Xeon X5667, 3.0 MHz, 8 core, 32 GB RAM, 120 GB HDD + iSCSI RAID5)
  • Linux / VMware virtualization hosts
    (Xeon L5640, 24 core, 2.2 GHz, 144 GB RAM, 2 TB RAID5)
    (Xeon X5667, 16 core, 3.0 MHz, 144 GB RAM, 2 TB RAID5)
    (Opteron 8128, 8 core, 2.6 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 500 GB RAID5)
    (Xeon 5150, 4 core, 2.66 GHz, 8 GB RAM, iSCSI RAID5).
  • IBM Power 520 Express server (VIOS, i5/OS)
    (Power 6, 2 core,  4.2 GHz, 16 GB RAM,  6x 137 GB HDD RAID5 + iSCSI RAID5).
